One bathroom, five views: a glossy white veined floor, a tub wall with a niche under a window, a shower pan with a round drain and the transition at the door. The same family of tile covers all of it, which makes a modest room feel larger.

What to look at

The shower pan is sloped toward the drain, and the tile around the drain is cut in a neat radial pattern so the water has a clear path. The niche above the tub is framed in whole tiles. At the door, the floor tile ends with a tight, straight cut under the casing, and the threshold meets the hall floor at the same height so nothing catches a foot.

How work like this is set

Large-format wall tile is set differently from small tile. The wall is flattened first, thinset is applied to both the wall and the back of the tile, and leveling clips keep the faces in one plane. Movement joints are left at the inside corners and at the change of plane at the floor and ceiling, then filled with matching sealant rather than rigid grout.

If you want something similar

If you are planning a bathroom like this, the tile is only part of the job. The walls, the tub or pan, the waterproofing and the substrate decide how long it lasts, so those are the questions to settle first. Send photos of the room and we will tell you what we see. We work in Downey and nearby, and the matching service is Bathroom & Shower Tile.
