A bathroom in veined porcelain with a mosaic floor that runs through the shower and across the room. A freestanding tub sits near the window and a wood vanity stands against the opposite wall.
What to look at
Using the same mosaic inside the shower and across the room floor means the transition at the shower curb has no change in material, which is easier to keep clean. The mosaic follows the slope inside the shower and then flattens out beyond it. On the walls, the large tiles are laid out from the center so the cuts at the corners are equal.
How work like this is set
Large-format wall tile is set differently from small tile. The wall is flattened first, thinset is applied to both the wall and the back of the tile, and leveling clips keep the faces in one plane. Movement joints are left at the inside corners and at the change of plane at the floor and ceiling, then filled with matching sealant rather than rigid grout.
If you want something similar
If you are planning a bathroom like this, the tile is only part of the job. The walls, the tub or pan, the waterproofing and the substrate decide how long it lasts, so those are the questions to settle first. Send photos of the room and we will tell you what we see. We work in Bellflower and nearby, and the matching service is Bathroom & Shower Tile.
