Tan Tile Tub Surround

Two warm tan walls, one job type: tile around a tub. The first photo shows rectangular tiles turning an inside corner above a white tub. The second shows a smaller brick-pattern tile around a built-in bench, topped with a band of squares set on the diagonal.
What to look at
The inside corner in the first photo is the detail to study. Both walls carry the same horizontal lines through the corner, and the vertical joint is kept clean and straight. In the second photo the bench top slopes slightly toward the shower, the front edge is finished with a tile that returns over the face, and the diagonal band gives the wall a line to stop at instead of running tile to the ceiling in one flat sheet.
How work like this is set
With ceramic or glass wall tile, small differences in tile size add up across a wall. We mix boxes, keep the joints consistent and check the lines every few rows. Outside corners are finished with a trim piece or a mitered edge, and the niche and the valve are set on whole tiles wherever possible so the cuts are not the first thing you see.
If you want something similar
Before choosing tile for a bathroom, check what is behind the old tile. Soft drywall, stains at the base of the wall or a pan that holds water point to a rebuild rather than a retile. Send us a photo and the approximate size and we will give you a straight answer. We work in Long Beach and nearby, and the matching service is Bathroom & Shower Tile.
