Large Hexagon Veined Floor

Large hexagon tiles with gray veining cover a bathroom floor, laid in a honeycomb that leads toward the window. The size makes the room feel open, and the veining gives each hexagon its own character.
What to look at
Large hexagons are laid out around a center line so the cuts at the walls come out evenly. Each wall cut has angled edges that match the tile, and the tile meeting the tub is cut to a tight line. In the second photo the edge along the tub is straight and the joint is even. Narrow joints and a flat floor are the difference between a clean honeycomb and a wavy one.
How work like this is set
Hexagon tile has no square edges to follow, so the layout is set from a chalk grid snapped on the floor. The first full row is placed on the center line and the cuts are pushed to the walls. Each wall cut has two angles, so each is marked and cut to fit individually rather than guessed from the next.
If you want something similar
A floor job starts with what is under it. Slab moisture, cracks, dips and old adhesive all affect how the new tile should be set. Send us the room, the approximate size and the tile you have in mind and we will tell you what prep it needs.
